mermaid in a sea of swirling air

Gloria drops her leaves

litter like silk puddles

around her on the ground

She’s nearly nude now

The wind rolls in like waves

breakers on hilltops

It spills, crashes into the valley

I feel like  a mermaid

In a sea of swirling air

Gloria, the old white oak tree in our front yard.
Gloria, the Old Oak Tree in our front yard was the inspiration for the poem and the painting.

    1. She is, isn’t she!? I take a lot of photos of her, and am amazed at how much she has grown even since we’ve lived here.
