Black Gum autumn leaves, leaching plant pigments

Autumn is on the Way, Wild Ozark Events, and a Prize

Today was pretty hot. 95*F and humid. But even if it doesn’t feel like fall yet, and we’re still in the dog days of summer, I can see a difference in the way it looks outside. The angle of the light is different. Autumn is on the way. This time of year is one of my favorites because it’s one of those ‘between’ times. I’m between projects, and we’re moving into the between seasons period.

All that ‘between-ness’ is a state of place and being called liminality, and it’s a common thread to all the things and places and states of being that I really like most in life. I mention that word a lot in my writing here, it seems. Oddly enough, it’s not the sort of experience I find possible to seek out, but it is something I recognize when I experience or see it.

Repeating myself?

Much of what is in this post is the same as what I just sent out to my mailing list. In that mailing, I asked for feedback about whether my mailing list, the blog, or social media are reaching the same folks because I don’t want to be repetitive in what I write to all the platforms if the same people will see it everywhere. Only a few replied, and all of those said the main way they keep up is through the newsletter, so this shouldn’t cause too much redundancy by posting it here, too.

I think most of the time my newsletters goes to spam folders, anyway, lol. So if you are seeing this twice and it bothers you, let me know so I can try to be more original in my online spaces.

UPCOMING EVENTS

Lots of things planned for the rest of this year! These are the ones confirmed. I’ve applied to a couple of other events that are juried. The jury is still out, so hopefully I’ll get to add a few more dates to the list soon.

Sept. 7 Immerse Celebration of Wilson Spring Preserve.

Immerse at Wilson Springs 2019, first of the events with Autumn on the way.
I’ll be there from 12-4 with everything you need to try your hand at making Ozark pigment paint. If you just want to paint a picture, I’ll also have paints and paper on hand. It’s a great opportunity to participate in a mini-workshop or see the process if you’ve been curious. Fingers crossed for good weather!

Oct 18-19 Heart of Rogers craft show.

I’ll be here with originals, prints, and stationery. Maybe some paint sets in driftwood palettes, too.

Oct 25-26-27 Ponca Color Fest 2019

Autumn is on the way as I write this post, but by the time of Color Fest it will definitely be here and in full swing! At the Color Fest, Barb Worth will be sharing space in my booth. She’s a fiber artist and I think she’ll have her spinning wheel doing demonstrations. I’ll have paints and papers and will be working on one of my own, but visitors can try them out too.

I’ll be here with originals, prints, stationery, and should definitely have my signature paint palettes in driftwood settings ready by this one.

Autumn is on the Way & I’m hosting a Canvas Print GIVEAWAY

So, there’s something really exciting going on at this very moment. I’m awaiting the delivery of a new large format printer. With this awesome piece of equipment (made possible by my wonderful Mr. Wild Ozark), I’ll be able to create archival quality prints and canvas prints right here at Wild Ozark. There’s a learning curve involved, but once I get it down, I’m going to give away my first successful stretched canvas print in celebration!

Enter by Email

If you’re not on Instagram and want to enter my giveaway, send me an email and let me know. I haven’t decided yet which painting to give away. I may give the winner a choice between all that I have available.

Enter on Instagram

If you are on Instagram, you can enter the drawing there. Follow @wildozark so you’ll see my post. When you do, tag a comment with the name of someone else who may like a canvas print from me. If you have a favorite of my paintings, mention that in the comments too. You can tag as many people as you want, but each follower who comments will be entered once. When I’m feeling proficient at making the canvases, I’ll make a random drawing. Thanks to everyone who enters!

Everyone who enters by email or comments on the Instagram post (it’s not posted yet) will be entered into the drawing. And yeah, I think the print will be winner’s choice out of those three different genres of my work. Once the printer arrives and I get it running, I’ll post the giveaway to Instagram. That ought to be next week!

Whew! I think I’ve caught you up on all the happenings at Wild Ozark now 🙂 I hope you’re enjoying summer and are looking forward to the wonderful cool weather of our gorgeous Ozark autumns. Autumn is on the way – Yay!

Madison
