I’m so happy to have the ‘studio portion’ of the Wild Ozark Art Studio & Gallery to a point where I can actually paint and do work in it. The big desk is great for … well, all kinds of things. I can wrap purchases on it, put my desktop easel on it and still have room to use the register for checking out customers. The benchtops are wonderful – and I owe a debt of gratitude to David Anderson, one of the gallery artist vendors, for putting nice plywood tops on them. The gratitude debt extends to all three of them (Karen, David, and Judy) for getting the walls painted, the door screens repaired/replaced, an incredible amount of cleaning and junk hauling.
The big desk is chocked full of junk from previous owners still, and I don’t want to throw it all away without seeing what I’m throwing out, so that’s still on the list to do. There’s still a ton of junk in the closet and I want to throw all of that out, too. Lots of junks underneath the counters that need to be thrown out. So still lots of junk to throw out, but it’s way better than it was when we started. My own things are in there now and most of it has been unpacked and put away, at least temporarily. It feels good to have the Wild Ozark Art Studio functional, even if there is still a lot of work to do.

The Schedule and Hours
I’ll be there on Saturdays except for the monthly Bentonville Art Market. If the gallery ever gets it’s footing and I am able to pay the rent from its income, I’ll quit the art market. Here’s where you can find the schedule that gets updated regularly. As of right now, art market days are July 15 and Aug 12. Other than that, on a Saturday you will find me in Alpena at the Wild Ozark Art Studio from 10-4.
Here’s a map to help you find it:
Upcoming Workshops/Classes
You can always see what’s on the schedule at my shop site: https://shop.wildozark.com/product-category/workshops/
I’ll add some watercolor paint alongs and watercolor paint-making workshops soon, too. Also, I’ll hold classes to help artists create their own print catalogs like the one I’ve recently made for myself.

Madison Woods is a self-taught artist who moved to the Ozarks from south Louisiana in 2005. In 2018 she began experimenting with watercolor painting, using her local pigments. She calls them Paleo Paints. In 2023 she began her journey into the world of oil painting with those same pigments. Her paintings of the Ozark-inspired scenes feature exclusively the lightfast pigments foraged from Madison county, Arkansas. Her inspiration is nature – the beauty, and the inherent cycle of life and death, destruction and regeneration. Wild Ozark is also the only licensed ginseng nursery in Arkansas.
