Wild Ozark: Where Madison Woods paints with Ozark pigments … and talks to rocks, creeks, and trees.

Sunday Art Pop-ups at Wild Ozark

Pop-up show at Wild Ozark

Sunday art pop-ups will begin at Wild Ozark on Oct. 26 until it gets too cold. They’ll begin again in spring as weather allows.

I’m going to start setting up my tent down at the connex on Sundays starting next weekend. Anyone who wants to make the very scenic 6-mile drive down the dirt road to get here is welcome to come visit, learn about the pigments I use and see the paintings. There will usually be a painting in progress on the easel while I’m out there, too.

Once it gets cold, I’ll stop and then pick it up again in Spring. I may also organize some plein air sessions out here if anyone wants to join. At least on the Sunday pop-ups, plein air is an option if you’re an artist and want to bring your gear! Bring your booth, too, if you like – but we’re not likely to gather crowds way out here and it’s only 4 hours of time. Who knows, maybe eventually I will get enough marketing done to reach the folks who like traveling the dirt roads.

Details:

  • Where: 562 Madison 3270, Kingston AR 72742 (Google Maps should get you here, but be aware that there’s no signal once you leave Kingston. Or past the charcoal plant if you’re coming in from Huntsville on 74. I’ll set up my tent at my connex that serves as my studio storage space).
  • When: Oct. 26, 2025 from 10 am to 2 pm
  • Things to Know: there’s no signal out here, and no bathrooms either. It’s not near the house. My suggestion is to stop at the Kingston Station on the way in and get some water and a snack, and use the facilities.

Future Plans

Over the next several months, I’ll get my connex painted, my herb gardens planted around it, and turn that space into my home studio space. My open hours will be on Sundays 10 am to 2 every weekend while the weather allows.

I’m working on signs that I can put at the front end of the road and at the end of the driveway to make it easier to find these Sunday Art Pop-ups.

This is also where I have my ginseng nursery and habitat demonstration garden. I’ll start propagating more of the companion plants and branch out to medicinal herbs as well. So the Connex will the the official ‘location’ for my art and nursery business.

Google Maps

I’m still working on getting it verified with Google, but that isn’t working well at the moment because they require a live video that shows the location AND street signs. Well, there are no street signs close by and there’s no cell signal to make the live video in the first place. They don’t allow me to upload a video once I get back to wifi. Color me frustrated with all that. My Sunday art pop-ups may have to go without Google cooperation.

At the very least, the maps for directions should at least point to the correct spot once my edit is accepted. Maybe Google would look more kindly on it as a business if I paint a large ‘Wild Ozark’ on the top of my connex so it can be seen with satellite view 🙂

Thank you! Honestly, I’m not expecting much to come of it. LOL, we live so far off the pavement it’s not likely that many will venture out to the wilds. But, just in case there are some brave adventurous souls out there who love art, we’ll see 😀
