Enjoy Nature: Phlox and Fiddleheads

Here’s a little inspiration to get outside on this beautiful sunny day and enjoy nature.

Phlox is blooming and casting joyful purple splashes all around the Wild Ozark hills and woods, and the fiddleheads are unfurling.

Enjoy nature - take a walk in the woods and you'll find these fiddleheads of the Christmas fern unfurling in spring.

About Wild Ozark
Wild Ozark is a nature farm. Mostly we grow rocks. I use those rocks and some of the herbs to make earth pigments and watercolor paints. We also grow native clay that I use for making my Fairy Swing Mushrooms. And then there are the trees. We grow lots of trees. My husband uses some for his woodworking and some for our Burnt Kettle Shagbark Hickory Syrup, but for the most part they stand around creating good air, shade, & habitat for the ginseng nursery.

About the voice behind this blog, Madison Woods
I'm a creative old soul living way off the beaten path with my husband in the wild Ozark Mountains. You can find my art on display and for sale at the Kingston Square Arts shop in Kingston, Arkansas. It's a tiny little town and a bit off the path to anywhere at all, but a wonderful ride out to a most beautiful part of our state. Besides homesteading, growing plants & making arts & crafty things, I write books and stories. My rural fantasy fiction, written under the pen name, Ima Erthwitch, usually takes place in a much altered Ozarks.

  1. Beautiful shots, Madison. It’s quite nice here, but today is a work indoors day for me, things I need to get done. But I have some of the windows open, which is a wonderful feeling and I may take a walk a bit later. Tomorrow I’ll be outside for sure.

    1. Thanks 🙂 I had mostly indoor things to do here today too, but tomorrow it’s supposed to rain so I made a point to get the outdoor things I wanted to do outside done this morning.

      1. Good choice. It was cloudy this morning but cleared up mid-morning and is warm enough that I have some of the windows open. I love that! Bill was gone all day at a seminar and I spent quite a lot of it cleaning, of all things, but it was nice just to have the house to myself.
