I’ve never been one to follow the trends, but when all of my art is a spectrum of earthy colors, it makes me really happy that Pantone’s Color of the Year, Mocha Mousse, is one that falls in line with my palette.
If someone is using that color as an accent, or any of the other earthy colors in the palette, my artwork would look fantastic on their walls 🙂
It’s just a matter of reaching the audience… which is always the problem, isn’t it?
Studio Scents and Earthy Colors
At this moment, I’m sitting at my desk writing this post while the scent of linseed oil is wafting through the air. I love the smell, but I know not everyone does.
I’ve been working on my painting of the old shed with the red sunset. Here’s where it stands now:
Still in Progress
There’s a lot more to do, so it’s not near ready for a Pantene Color of the Year decorated home yet. But I’m making progress.
Those pesky cedars that were giving me trouble are now under control. Imagine the bare-limbed tree immediately behind the shed with cedar foliage. First, the underground behind and around it needs work, though.
After that I’ll work towards the right of the canvas on the tree-line that’s still unfinished.
The ground around and in front of the shed is in line after that. Then I’ll work on the shed. For now it’ll stay an unfinished eyesore, but with some imagination you can possibly get a feel for how it will look.
Will you be decorating with an Earthy Pantone’s Color of the Year or variation?
I love the whole palette. But I think I would have called it And of course, I love mine, too.

I’m a nature-lover, real estate agent & artist. Sometimes, I also write things. I began using local pigments to paint scenes from nature in the Ozarks in 2018.
All of my artwork is available in prints, and where originals are available, they are for sale. You can find all of that over at shop.WildOzark.com. I have a separate website for my real estate blogging and information at WildOzarkLand.com.
Don’t be confused by my various monikers. For pretty much everything online, I go by Madison Woods, a pen name I adopted when I first began writing and then later with my art. For real estate, I use my real name, Roxann Riedel. And for my fiction, there’s yet another pen name: Ima Erthwitch.
