Wild Ozark Herbs – Plant Identification Cards

Flashcards for plant identification

These are 4 x 6” laminated photo-cards of some of my favorite wild Ozark herbs.

  • Many of us want to know the plants well enough to be able to rely on them in case there’s an urgent time of need. Perhaps such a time will never happen if our lifetime, but could be a future scenario that will affect our children or grandchildren.
  • Resources like these cards, tucked away in a chest or drawer, can always be pulled out and put to use later.
  • Many of us who are plant people want to learn these things now, and put to use what we learn as we learn it.

These cards are great for teaching yourself or others, and are easy for even children.

Some of the plants spotlighted are valuable medicinal plants, some are edible, some are useful in other ways like as food for pollinators, birds or as dye and fiber. This information is included as a laminated reference card.

On the front of each card is a photo or two of the plant in fruit or bloom. On the back of the card is a photo of the leaves or immature fruit. A summary card of plant properties and traditional use is included.

The front of each card is clearly labeled with common and binomial name but the back is not. This is so you can learn to identify them by sight before there are the major clues of ripe fruit or flowers.
