Whisper is a young Brahman cow painted in bone black and bone white pigments. The bones were foraged here at Wild Ozark and are most likely deer in origin. To get the white, the bones need to be brought to very high temperatures and ashed. The black uses the same process, but at lower temperatures. Both the white and the black are put into the fire inside a container and protected from air exposure during the process. I use our woodstove in winter to make these colors.
She’s a sweet, sassy cow that my granddaughter loves, and I hope her personality shows through to you in this painting.
